As NLP Coaches, Trainers and Practitioners, the language we use determines our results.
Every word you utter matters.
Every time you speak you change the way someone feels and as NLP thinkers, we always use language that has positive results towards a win-win outcome for both ourselves and others. The conscious use of language is a lot of fun and you will probably have noticed how your language has changed since you brought it into consciousness. Consciously utilising your language enables you to become far more influential, more confident in getting your results and the ability to initiate conversational change in others. Now that’s exciting, the ability to have someone change the way they think for positive benefit, just through our selection of words.
At the centre of NLP, we have a wealth of linguistic learning to offer. Linguistic Presuppositions, Predicates, Meta Model and Milton Model and the Hierarchy of Ideas all at Practitioner Training and there’s more, much more and it comes in the elegant form of Quantum Linguistics.
So what is Quantum Linguistics?
Well, consider this for a moment, would it be of value to you to learn another way of thinking that you don’t know right now? Re-shaping your thinking processes in a multi-dimensional way. Imagine having the thinking necessary to move a client, friend or family member from inside to outside of their problem, linguistically! Can you conceive of solving a problem simply by using well-constructed language? It’s a simple way of thinking that means you can positively damage a problem quickly and effectively.
Let’s first consider how someone creates a problem within their neurology. Each problem is the product of a constructed sequence of internal representations which, when they happen in the required order, produce the problem. If we change the order and strategic sequencing of the internal representations, we change the very nature of the problem.
In order to preserve the integrity of a problem, you put boundary conditions around it within your neurology. To traverse those boundaries, you simply move your thinking from inside to outside of your perceived problem. The problem is perceived by the words you use to describe it. Without the linguistic structure, the problem doesn’t exist. If you move your thinking across the boundary conditions enough, the problem will disappear. How interesting! The problem will disappear!
Activating your neural networks within the boundary conditions by firstly associating you into your problem allows you to work from inside the problem, moving across the boundaries and into a space labelled ‘not problem’. Once residing in the realm of ‘not problem’, the boundaries that hold the problem in place are blown out and the problem dissolves away.
Using quantum linguistic language patterns, you can initiate the inductive movement of your thinking from inside to outside the problem. This is the rock-solid foundation of conversational change. You can create your own quantum linguistic patterns, making every conversation flexible and very powerful. You can create generative change in others with the pure application of your very own quantum language patterns. Interesting isn’t it?
You can experiment now with a problem state. Notice how your thinking about the problem changes completely when you get to the ‘flip’. Next, try it out on someone else and notice the results. Even if the problem doesn’t resolve entirely, you will certainly shake it up and loosen the boundaries of the problem. It’s not easy to hold onto a problem once your grip on it is loosened.
Here’s the pattern:
1. What is the problem, what’s wrong? (Requires a verbal answer)
2. What caused this problem? (Consider this without speaking)
3. How have you failed to resolve this? (Consider this without speaking)
4. How can you overcome the solution to your problem? (Consider this without speaking)
FLIP
5. What would you like to change? (Consider this without speaking)
6. When will you STOP IT from being a limitation? (Consider this without speaking)
7. How many ways do you know you have solved this? (Consider this without speaking)
8. I know you are changing and seeing things differently.
If you are serious about enabling positive and empowering change in self and others through the eloquent use of language, then diving into NLP is the right plunge for you.
It’s not possible for you not to use this even though you haven’t thought of it yet.
